Gaskell Guitars Standard Limited One Year Warranty

IMPORTANT NOTE: This warranty covers all Gaskell factory-made guitars 2006-2014. For Custom Shop warrranty please see our specific Custom Shop warranty document.

All production Gaskell Guitars electric guitars (factory made) are warranted to be free from defects in materials and workmanship for one (1) year from the date of original purchase, subject to the limitations contained herein. The Law in Australia states: You are entitled to a replacement or refund for a major failure and for compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage. You are also entitled to have the goods repaired or replaced if the goods fail to be of acceptable quality and the failure does not amount to a major failure.

Defects caused by wear and tear, misuse, neglect, alteration or modification are not covered by this warranty. Gaskell Guitars retains the right to make such a determination on the basis of inspection, whether by physical inspection (products returned within Australia or to international distributors) or through photographic evidence (rest of the World.) In all cases, detailed information is required in order to make an informed and true assessment.

This warranty is extended to the original retail purchaser only and may not be transferred or assigned to subsequent owners. In order to validate your warranty, and as a condition precedent to warranty coverage hereunder, you must supply details of your purchase including contact details within fourteen (14) days following the original date of purchase from a Retail store. Proof of purchase or sales receipt must accompany all requests for warranty coverage. Note: all purchases made direct from Gaskell Guitars or a Gaskell Guitars distributor are automatically recorded at the time of sale.

All transportation, insurance and freight/courier charges associated with the sending of the instrument to the Gaskell Guitars service centre for warranty service and repairs are the responsibility of the purchaser. Gaskell Guitars assumes no liabilities for damages incurred in transit to or from service centre.

On arrival at the Gaskell Guitars service centre, a determination will be made whether the defect is covered under the terms of the warranty. If the repair is covered under the terms of the warranty, it will be repaired at no cost to the original purchaser including return courier/delivery. If the repair is not covered under warranty, an estimate of the cost of the repair will be given to the original purchaser. Return transportation costs of the instrument to the original purchaser in these circumstances is payable by the original purchaser.


  1. Any instrument on which any serial number (if any) has been removed or altered.
  2. Any instrument whose warranty registration card or information has not been received or whose warranty details have been altered or include false or incomplete information.
  3. Any instrument that has been damaged due to an accident, negligence or misuse caused by the owner directly or indirectly.
  4. Any attempted "fixes", whether successful or unsuccessful, made by the customer or by any agent of the customer including services offered by musical instrument stores or independent luthiers without advance permission or specific instructions from an authorized Gaskell Guitars representative.
  5. Transportation/shipping damage of any kind on uninsured deliveries.
  6. Transportation/shipping damage of any kind on insured deliveries where the cost to repair is greater than the insured value and/or the value noted on the commercial invoice of the original consignment is not recoverable.
  7. Any cosmetic or functional damage to the case the guitar came in, whether hard shell case or gig bag.
  8. Normal "wear and tear" to serviceable parts, including but not limited to fret wear, saddle wear, nut wear, strings, jacks, controls, switches, plated surfaces, tuning machines, pick guards,
  9. Damage to finishes or cracks, splitting, or warping of wood due to changes in temperature or humidity, exposure to or contact with sun, fire, moisture, body salts and acids of perspiration, guitar straps, guitar stands/hangers made from vinyl, plastic, rubber or other synthetic materials, any other chemicals or non Gaskell-approved polishes.
  10. Damage, corrosion or rusting of any chrome/metal hardware components caused by humidity, salty air, or exposure to the moisture, body salts and acids of perspiration, especially in regions notorious for harsh conditions such as areas near or in the desert or areas close to the sea.
  11. Any damage to an instrument resulting from self customization or modification (e.g replacing pickups, machine heads, wiring, etc.)
  12. Any subjective issues such as "tone" or opinion-based evaluations or comparisons in the absence of any actual fault.
  13. Any factory installed electronics and hardware after two years from the original date of purchase.
  14. Claims from or by anyone other than the original purchaser.
  15. Concerns or criticisms regarding any presence of perceptible "dust" particles, whether real or imagined, present in or under the finish of all gloss black and gloss white coloured guitars. This is due to the nature of these colours and their tendency to show up tiny, microscopic, imperfections, or variations in grain, lacquer or finish which are otherwise imperceptible on guitars of any other solid colour. This phenomenon occurs on all black gloss and white gloss guitars no matter the brand and no matter the price point. This is the inherent liability of having a gloss black or gloss white guitar.
  16. Any specified flaw or flaws present on clearance models sold as "scratch and dent", the reason for which the model is "scratch and dent."
  17. The cost of any setup subsequent to the original setup that was provided upon purchase and cost of regular maintenance/service of your new instrument, including neck/truss rod adjustments, string changes, action adjustment, and intonation. Every new guitar should be fully serviced (set up) at least once every 12 months and once every 6 months for very regular playing. This is usual for new guitars.
  18. Any and all charges including return courier/freight if no problems are found at the time of repair/inspection.
  19. Situations where untruths or imaginary problems about the condition or state of the received product have been used as a smoke screen for the fact that the customer has merely changed their mind and is trying to disguise the fact by inventing issues to justify a return of the product. In instances like this procedures will be followed as per Gaskell Guitars Returns policy, Section "Important Notes", Point 4.

Gaskell Guitars makes no other express warranty of any kind whatsoever. All implied warranties, including warranties of merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose, exceeding the specific provisions of this warranty are hereby disclaimed and excluded from this warranty. Some countries do not allow the exclusion or limitation of implied warranties so that the above may not apply to you.

Gaskell Guitars shall not be liable for any special, indirect consequential, incidental or other similar perceived or real damage(s) suffered by the purchaser or any third party, including without limitation, damages for loss or profits or business or damages resulting from use or performance of the instrument even if Gaskell Guitars or its authorized representative has been advised of such damages. And Gaskell Guitars shall not be liable for any expenses, claims or suits arising out of or relating to any of the foregoing.
